Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to join our eCommerce team. The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for identifying, sourcing, and procuring products that align with our company's market demands. This role is crucial to ensuring that our eCommerce platform offers a competitive product assortment that meets customer expectations, while maximizing profitability and managing vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Sourcing

    • Identify and source new products in line with market trends, customer demand, and company goals

    • Research potential suppliers and manufacturers to find the best deals on quality products

    • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging product categories

  • Supplier/Vendor Management

    • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors

    • Negotiate terms, prices, quantities, and shipping arrangements to optimize cost-efficiency

    • Ensure suppliers meet quality standards, delivery timelines, and compliance with company policies.

  • Inventory Planning

    • Forecast product demand and manage inventory levels to ensure product availability without overstocking

    • Collaborate with the operations and logistics teams to monitor stock levels, reorder points, and avoid sold-outs or excess inventory

  • Market Research

    • Conduct research on competitors, emerging markets, and industry developments to recommend new products or product categories
    • Analyze customer preferences, sales data, and other analytics to refine the product offering
  • Order Management

    • Place purchase orders based on inventory needs, negotiated deals, and sales forecasts.

    • Monitor and track the status of orders, ensuring timely delivery and resolving any supply chain disruptions.

  • Budget and Cost Control

    • Manage purchasing budgets and align with company financial targets

    • Identify cost-saving opportunities through negotiation or finding alternative suppliers without compromising product quality

  • Quality Control

    • Ensure product quality by establishing specifications and standards for incoming products

    • Work with suppliers to resolve any issues related to product quality, discrepancies, or returns
       

Skills and Qualifications:

​

  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in eCommerce or retail environment is a plus

  • Bachelor's degree is a plus
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to conduct thorough market research and competitor analysis.

  • Experience with inventory management and supply chain operations.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in GSuite and familiarity with eCommerce platforms (eBay, Shopify, Amazon, etc.).

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and forecasting.

  • Knowledge of international purchasing processes, import/export regulations, and logistics is a plus.
     

Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Experience with eCommerce platforms, industry, tools or technologies

  • Ability to lift heavy objects (about 40lbs)

  • Clean driving record is a plus

  • Professional working proficiency in Korean, Spanish or Japanese
